If you visited York Road in Towson in 1965, you would have found a retail lighting showroom by the name of Portnoy-Jones Valley Lighting, and products consisting of chandeliers, lighting inventory, and the like. The early ‘70s brought change to this business model, whereas the company then began to grow in scope—supplying to commercial contractors and builders, shifting the focus to more small commercial work. The evolution then continued, bringing us today to the company now known as Valley Lighting and our concentration on successful, large-scale commercial projects.
Despite these changes, there are several constants we’ve upheld throughout over 50 years of business: our insistence on quality, dedication to customer service, and the cultivation of long-term relationships. Longevity runs through our personnel as well: the majority of our employees average close to 20-30 years each in the lighting business, enabling us to bring you refined expertise and thorough cradle-to-grave support in each job.
Whether you’re an electrical contractor, general contractor, or in project management, we can present the selections you need in bidding, or hone your choices based on a set criteria. We work as team players with architects, lighting engineers, and developers. Some of our past and current customers include: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Nationals Park, T. Rowe Price, Arundel Mills Mall, Maryland Live! Casino, Harborplace, Mills Corporation, and Rouse Company projects such as River Walk and Saw Grass Mills.
Valley Lighting is proud to be active within the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) as well as hold membership to the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED).
